![]() ![]() If you are interested in history, and would like to help preserve our area’s heritage we invite you to join the Society. The Society has also reproduced old maps, publications, postcards, note-cards, and other items that are for sale at reasonable prices. We have done presentations for school and community groups. Over the years in we have brought history to the people with the 2002 reenactment of the Battle of the Short Hills, the Passport To Edison, historic walking tours, cemetery tours and cleanups. We also sponsor historical programs with guest speakers 6 times a year, and often take field trips to nearby historic sites. ![]() In February we sponsor Metuchen-Edison Local Day where we display items from our archives. The Society maintains a collection of over 3,000 photographs, negatives, slides, manuscripts and artifacts about our local history in an archive located in the Grimstead room of the Metuchen Library. They represent a small portion of our collection of photographs and other information on the history of this area. The Division of Engineering also administers engineering inspection and related services on all development approved through the Planning Board and/or Zoning Board of Adjustment.The Metuchen Edison Historical Society is pleased to provide photographs from our historical archives for the Edison Township website. The Division of Engineering provides engineering and technical services to the various departments, boards and agencies of the township. ![]() The Division of Engineering prepares township maps, surveys, technical reports, investigations, studies, with respect to public property and facilities owned or operated by the township, as well as, for specific projects undertaken by the township, and maintains a complete record of all enginerring maps, plans, specifications, surveys, reports, and professional opinions, in which the township had or has an interest. Under the direction and control of the Township Engineer, the Division of Engineering develops construction plans and specifications and performs construction management on all municipal capital improvement projects undertaken by the Township by contract or by force account. ![]() This department consists of the following divisions: ![]()
